The new auctions at eMoviePoster.com got underway Tuesday night, March 9, 2010 and they feature 999 folded one-sheets.
Some of the greatest films ever are represented in the selection, which includes two Alfred Hitchcock masterpieces, To Catch A Thief (Grace Kelly and Cary Grant) and North By Northwest (Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint), Otto Preminger’s Carmen Jones (Dorothy Dandridge), Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather (Marlon Brando and Al Pacino), David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago (Omar Sharif and Julie Christie), George Lucas and Steve Spielberg’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1982 reissue, Harrison Ford illustrated by Richard Amsel), William Wyler’s Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston), Robert Zemeckis’ Back To The Future (Michael J. Fox illustrated by Drew Struzan), and Mack Sennett’s 1923 film Where’s My Wandering Boy This Evening?
Also up for auction are one-sheets representing a very wide array of genres, styles and eras, including Monster From The Ocean Floor, I Married A Witch (Veronica Lake and Fredric March), the 1982 remake of The Thing, An Affair To Remember (Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr), The Goonies (Drew Struzan art), Suspiria, Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing (William Holden and Jennifer Jones), Deep Red, They Call Her One Eye, Raging Bull, High School Caesar, Spiral Staircase style A (Dorothy McGuire, George Brent and Ethel Barrymore), The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad, X The Unknown, Wild World Of Batwoman, Fast & The Furious (John Ireland and Dorothy Malone), Juvenile Jungle, Gates Of Hell, Moonraker style A international teaser, Gimme Shelter, The Exorcist, Duke Comes Back (Allan ‘Rocky’ Lane), Straw Dogs, Flight For Freedom style A, Saturday Night Fever teaser, Phantom Of The Paradise, Mr Hex (Bowery Boys), Hell & High Water, and Pirates Of The Prairie style A (Tim Holt)
Three results that jumped out from last week’s auctions were Star Wars printer’s proof style C with rating ($1,125 for one of the top 1970s posters), the 1972 reissue 2001: A Space Odyssey teaser ($704 for a never-before-seen item) and Blade Runner ($678 for the one-sheet with the classic John Alvin art).
