Actor Julian Sands, known for Warlock and A Room with a View, has been found. He went missing on Friday, January 13, 2023, while hiking near Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains. Hikers found human remains at Mount Baldy on Saturday, June 24, and on Tuesday, June 27 it was confirmed to be Sands. He was 65 years old.
Sands was born on January 4, 1958, in Otley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. His first TV role was on Play for Today, then he had supporting roles in Oxford Blues and The Killing Fields. He followed that up with roles in A Room with a View and Gothic, and he had the title role in Warlock and Warlock: The Armageddon.
In the ‘90s, he was in Arachnophobia, Impromptu, Naked Lunch, Boxing Helena, Leaving Las Vegas, and played the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera horror adaptation. He starred in the Stephen King miniseries, Rose Red, voiced Mayor Valmont in Jackie Chan Adventures, was in The Medallion, The L Word, played Laurence Olivier in the TV movie Kenneth Tynan: In Praise of Hardcore, Stargate SG-1, he had a recurring role in 24, and he played Jor-El in Smallville.
Sands’ recent work was in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, he did voice work in Star Wars: The Old Republic and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, he was in Dexter, Gotham, The Man in an Orange Shirt miniseries, The Black List, and his final role was in The Ghosts of Mondayo.
