Unity is the Valiant superhero team dedicated to stopping larger threats that a single hero could not vanquish on his/her own. The team was named after the Unity crossover comic (1992) that included all of Valiant’s ongoing titles of the time.

The team was introduced in Unity #1 (November 2013) by writer Matt Kindt and artist Doug Braithwaite. Their story began when Aric of Dacia, the X-O Manowar, escaped the Vine and returned to Earth where he planned to claim his former home of Dacia, now Romania.

To prevent world nations from starting a war with the superpowered being, Harbinger Foundation CEO Toyo Harada contacted Eternal Warrior and asked him to try convincing Aric to stop the invasion on Romania. Then Harada planned to send a team of Psiots to stop Aric while Ninjak would neutralize the X-O Manowar ship. Eternal Warrior failed, the Psiots were stopped, and Ninjak was captured by Aric.

Harada’s next move was to task Livewire with creating a new team to fight X-O Manowar. They attacked Aric at his ship and when he launched it into space, Livewire used her power to cut the tie between it and X-O Manowar, crashing it into the ocean. Livewire took the X-O Manowar armor back to Harada and it was then that the growing team of heroes realized that Harada’s real plan was always to acquire the powerful armor for himself.

Eternal Warrior, Livewire, and Ninjak joined with Aric to stop the power hungry Harada and reclaim the armor. To avoid being imprisoned for trying to take over his former homeland, X-O Manowar became an agent of the US Military Reconnaissance Outpost to defeat alien threats that came to Earth.
