The Morrow company is a tech company presenting itself as helpers but really, they are seizing control of peoples lives and have literally taken over San Francisco. Bibiana Lopez-Yang is a soldier suffering from PTSD who has decided to fight for her neighborhood against the drones, against the Morrow reps forcing people to relocate, and against the gang that’s making everything worse.

After the first two issues established the situation, the third one starts laying the foundation for the deeper story. Maria, the cop who is rebelling against the system, joins Bibi and her righthand man Eddie to discuss taking down Morrow. We meet Mr. Moss, an old fashioned mustache twirling bad guy, who heads Morrow and is ruthless about his strategy for finding the woman who is fighting back.

The creative team of writer Melissa Flores, artist French Carlomagno, and colorist Mattia Iacono are doing a great job with this book. The heroes are interesting and likeable, there’s action in each issue, the pacing is moving along well, and their version of San Francisco is beautiful and colorful. Dead Lucky is also taking on the concept of technology ruling our lives and how that can get out of hand, but the book isn’t heavy handed about it.

Dead Lucky is a really good book that should not be missed.
