In an alternate version of reality, Buffy Summers is in her 60s and is the last vampire slayer. The sun is weaker here, so vampires can walk in the daylight, and they have made a truce with humankind. Buffy has been an outcast in this world, knowing that no alliance can truly tame vampires. With the help of Spike, Willow and Tara’s daughter Thessaly, and a coven of witches, Buffy will fight once again to save humankind from the vampire threat.
In this final issue of the Last Vampire Slayer miniseries, writer Casey Gilly wraps the story in an unexpected, though really interesting way. The villains in this series weren’t particularly formidable, which kept the focus on how Buffy navigates Slayer life in her 60s and what could be in store for young Thessaly. This issue features a new level of Slayer power and introduces a concept that hasn’t been previously explored.
It was a good series and definitely one that Buffy fans should check out.
