Esther has caught a terminal case of feelings for Ed, and it’s taken her quite a long time to figure that out and admit it to herself. The problem here is that she perhaps took too long, and Ed has instead leveled up his friendship with the cute Australian girl he endured physical therapy with, rather than waiting to see if Esther would ever come around.

Of the three Giant Days protagonists, we’ve really only seen in-depth, relationship-focused storytelling for Daisy and Susan, so this particular arc focusing on Esther’s complicated feelings for Ed has been solid. It’s a story that’ll pull at your heartstrings (especially if you’ve ever been in a similar situation). It just seems as though Esther and Ed will be stuck in the will-they-won’t-they pattern forever – though perhaps there could be a surprise here soon.
