Snow White Live-Action Film Gets First Teaser Trailer

Snow White danced her way into Disney’s D23 expo with the first look at the live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, who star as Snow White and the Evil Queen, respectively, appeared at the event to introduce the first trailer.

“It’s been the honor of a lifetime,” Zegler told the crowd. “I think any young person, any little girl if you get to put on a Disney princess dress and be her for a day let alone six months… It’s just been the most amazing experience and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”

“It was a lot of fun to get to do something that is completely different than anything I’ve ever done before,” Gadot said. “She’s delicious, she’s evil, she’s magical. We got to sing all these different songs. It was incredible.”

The movie, simply titled Snow White, reimagines the classic 1937 Disney animated film about Snow White who flees the castle when her jealous stepmother orders the Huntsman to kill her. When Snow White evades the assassination attempt, she seeks refuge with the seven dwarfs at their cottage in the woods.

The teaser trailer introduces Snow White and other characters with some shots that recreate scenes from the animated film. It shows Snow White venturing into the dwarfs’ cottage as they head home, followed by a few bars of “Whistle While You Work.” The Evil Queen consults the magic mirror and angrily transforms into her old croon visage.

Snow White dances in the forest, meets the prince, and is magically attacked before the woodland creatures come to her aid. The trailer ends with the pivotal moment when the Evil Queen offers Snow White the poisoned apple.

Snow White is directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man), with a script by Greta Gerwig (Barbie director, co-writer) and Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train). It also stars Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, and Emilia Faucher as young Snow White. The movie will feature songs from the original animated movie and new songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Greatest Showman).

The movie premieres in theaters in March 2025.
