The Resentment & Creation of Titania

Mary MacPherran, aka Titania is a super-strong villainess and one of She-Hulk’s greatest antagonists. As the second character to use the name Titania, she has been a member of the Masters of Evil and the Frightful Four. Titania was created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, and was introduced in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #3 (July 1984).
Mary was born prematurely and grew up to be a short, skinny kid. Constantly tormented for being so scrawny, Mary simmered with resentment and fantasized about gaining superpowers so that she could become admired and get revenge on her bullies. When Spider-Woman appeared in their town, Mary told her friend Marsha that she was secretly the superheroine, and Marsha spread the news around their school. Suddenly, Mary became popular and was invited to a party by Vanessa, one of the girls who used to bully her.
In the middle of the party, their area of Denver was pulled from Earth and sent to Battleworld where Beyonder was pitting heroes against villains. When the real Spider-Woman showed up to save the partygoers, Vanessa was furious and convinced her friends to chase Mary and Marsha into the forest of Battleworld.
Doctor Doom found the scared girls and since he wanted to grow his army of metahuman soldiers, he offered to give them power in exchange for their loyalty. He used alien technology to induce high level metahuman abilities in each girl. Mary gained powers that were the opposite of her shortcomings, becoming taller, stronger, and more curvaceous.
Now as Titania, she became confident and brash, challenging other heroes and villains to prove that she was better than them. This new attitude pitted her against some of the greats like Thor and Wolverine, and created a lasting rivalry with She-Hulk.
