Awkward romance, evil exes, and high energy action hit viewers in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Netflix dropped the full-length trailer for the animated series based on the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which is an adaptation of the comic series by Bryan Lee O’Malley.
What makes the series so exciting (aside from Sex Bob-omb’s music) is that the entire movie cast returned to voice their characters in the show. This includes Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie Richter, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
The trailer showcases cute moments between Scott and Ramona, then introduces each version of the animated characters, and lots of cuts of the action to come. The eight-episode show kicks off on November 17, 2023.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright is executive producing the animated series. O’Malley is serving as co-showrunner with BenDavid Grabinski, who recently created the Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival. The series will feature original songs by the band Anamanaguchi, who composed music for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game.
