Disney’s rambunctious and rebellious besties Lilo & Stitch have landed their own comic series at Dynamite. The ongoing all-ages book is their first foray into comics, featuring a story by Greg Pak and art by Giulia Giacomino.
Following the events in the 2002 animated film, the alien Stitch has found a home in Hawaii with his best friend Lilo, her sister Nani, David (Nani’s boyfriend), the aliens Dr. Jumba and Agent Pleakley, and the social worker Cobra Bubbles. Lilo and Stitch got in plenty of trouble during their first adventure together, so the pair are attempting to behave a little better and just enjoy their beautiful Hawaiian home.
That changes when giant robots arrive on the island in search of Stitch to procure his DNA for their own experiments. The comic will take Lilo and Stitch on a journey around the world as Stitch tries to evade the robots and protect his family.
“The Lilo & Stitch movie blew me away back in the day with its gorgeous, organic animation and its hugely fun sci-fi elements,” Pak said. “But above all else, I loved its focus on the everyday struggles of an incredibly relatable family on the edge and a little girl and a little monster who somehow manage to save each other. It’s a thrill to have the chance to work on this new series with this tremendous team.”
The series kicks off in January 2024, and will feature covers by David Nakayama, Joshua Middleton, Jennfier L. Meyer, and Craig Rousseau. Lilo & Stitch #1 is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ November 2023 issue of PREVIEWS.
