Ancient Enemies #2

Frank Miller Presents; $5.99
The world building continues in this second issue of Dan DiDio’s Ancient Enemies.
After the calamitous events of the previous issues, there appear to be more than a few fault lines in the relationships between the members of The Greater Good, the superhero team supposed to protect the relatively new city of Americana. It’s also pretty clear that the danger has not yet passed.
Flashing back to the destruction of the Eastern seaboard years earlier, we learn a bit more about another hero, The Wraith, as well as her first encounter with The Geek.
DiDio, artist Danilo Beyruth, and colorist Alex Sinclair are in fine form in this issue, taking full advantage of the story potential, the expanded format of the comic, and the production values at their disposal.
It’s a solid read on its own, but it really makes the reader want to know more about this version of our world.
There’s also a four-page origin of The Geek written and illustrated by Frank Miller (again with colors by Sinclair), and the back text matter installments of What’s What (think Who’s Who, but not at DC) show us more of The Greater Good team.
