Joseph Montagne has been promoted to the position of VP and publisher in Abrams ComicArts division. In this role, he will work to grow their presence in comic book, graphic novel, and manga markets.

He joined Abrams ComicsArts when the division was established in 2023 as the VP and associate publisher. Before that, Montagne spent eight years working for Média-Participations in France and Belgium.

“Joseph’s exceptional skill set and enterprising approach make him the ideal leader for Abrams ComicArts,” Abrams President and CEO Mary McAveney said. “His promotion aligns perfectly with our long-term strategy to expand and innovate within this dynamic sector. We are confident that under his leadership, Abrams ComicArts will thrive and set new standards in the industry.”

“It is truly an honor, and a dream come true to step into this role and lead Abrams ComicArts during such an exciting time…. I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead,” Montagne said.

Since ComicArts launched in the fall of 2024, they have released several manga series under their Kana imprint, and they published the graphic novel adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. They have several titles in the works, such as an adaptation of Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Talents by John Jennings, Damian Duffy, and David Brame, and The Avengers in the Veracity Trap! by Chip Kidd and Michael Cho.
