Abrams to Launch Children’s Comic Imprint

Abrams Children’s Group has announced the creation of Abrams Fanfare, a new graphic novel imprint for young readers. Headed by Abrams’ Senior VP and Publisher Andrew Smith and Associate Publisher Maggie Lehrman, the imprint will include graphic novels for early, middle grade, and young adult readers.
Abrams Fanfare will kick things off with two new titles and three volumes of current series. The new books include Black Lives: Great Minds of Science, the first in a series of biographies by writer Tonya Bolden and artist David Wilkerson, which is out in August 2024. The second of the new titles is The Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien about the famous authors’ friendship. Written and illustrated by John Hendrix, it will arrive in September.
The continuing comics includes Adventuregame Comics: Samurai vs. Ninja, the third volume in the choose your own adventure series by Jason Shiga, which is out in August. A Mighty Marvel Team-Up Box Set contains the titles Spider-Man: Animals Assemble!, Spider-Man: Quantum Quest!, and Spider-Man: Cosmic Chaos! – all by Mike Maihack and set for release in November. Astrid & Stella: Comet Together! is the fourth volume about sisters Eunice and Sabrina Moyle, and their Hello!Lucky design studio, which arrives in January 2025.
Other Abrams Fanfare titles will include a young adult mystery by Mariko Tamaki and artist Nicole Goux, an adaptation of Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness fantasy series, a middle grade series by Larry Hama, and an early reader book by Tom Angleberger. Additionally, Abrams Fanfare will collaborate with Marvel, Mattel, and Paramount Consumer Products on more titles.
