Is there a better character from the Adventure Time universe to help celebrate Halloween than the vampire queen herself, Marceline? Probably not. This special edition issue focuses on Marcy as she explores her past with Simon (better known these days as the Ice King) and visits some areas where the two used to hang out in the aftermath of the Mushroom War. Interestingly enough, this story focuses on Marceline before she was turned into a Vampire (though her appearance isn’t much different given that her father is the Demon King). She hangs out with her dog, Schwabl, and runs into some humans who are hiding from the local vamps.

The book is written and illustrated by one of the show’s storyboard artists, Hanna K., so the art style and writing both fit nicely into the established Adventure Time canon. It balances some emotional moments for Marcy with plenty of action and is a great pick-up for any fan of the Cartoon Network show.
