BOOM!; $3.99

Last week, Samuel, Samantha, and Samir were outcasts just trying to make it through the day. But after a walk through the woods brought them in contact with an adorable but dangerous alien creature, the three were flooded with powers that mentally connected them to one another.

Sharing your innermost secrets with strangers is bad enough, but when the school bully follows them back into the woods… it becomes clear to the teenagers that their cute little pet is a predator in the making. With a possible death on their hands, the trio continues to bond over their shared secret and work on controlling the privacy settings on their “brain meld.” But as the pressures of hiding an actual alien – henceforth named Chip – mount, they each begin to fantasize about how to use Chip’s strange powers to improve the world-starting with their current lives. What could possibly go wrong?

Writer Simon Spurrier (John Constantine Hellblazer) continues to build a mystery with characters that are complicated and relatable. Coupled with the vibrant art by Chris Wildgoose (Batman: Nightwalker), this series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
