Ancient Enemies creator-writer Dan DiDio teamed with artist Jim Calafiore for the latest in his series of character- (or team-) specific one-shots explaining the background of the characters and events featured in the main series.

Calafiore has long been a rock-steady artist and storyteller, but pairing him with Brian Miller and the colorists at Hi-Fi just elevated his already fantastic game. Good thing, too, as this issue takes on one of the key concepts from the world of Ancient Enemies, the team known as The Greater Good.

The origin of the team’s members, and its founder, Morrigan Bonny, are in the spotlight as Morrigan tries to negotiate with the leader of the Zaiyan Race, one half of the alien war that changed the course of the nation (and probably humanity) with its crashlanding on Earth 20 years earlier. Morrigan is clearly up to more than she’s letting on, and figuring out just what that is holds the reader’s attention.
