Bob Wayne Reflects on His Life in Comics at SDCC

Bob Wayne, the former DC head of sales and marketing, longtime Overstreet Advisor, and Inkpot Award winner has spent his life working in the comics industry. A few weeks ago at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, he participated in a panel that celebrated his work in comics.

Wayne sat down with Andrew Sumner of Forbidden Planet TV to talk about his life and career, starting with growing up in Fort Worth, Texas. He talked about attending conventions and selling comics professionally and the nearly 30 years he spent marketing popular and influential comics.

During the panel, Wayne recounted his friendship with former DC President Paul Levitz, working with Will Eisner, and meeting Steve Ditko. He also fielded questions from attendees, including Willaim Schanes, the former Diamond Comic Distributors Vice President of Purchasing, art historian and Inkpot winner David Siegel, and his former DC colleagues Fletcher Chu-Fong and Stuard Shreck.
