Nexus co-creator writer Mike Baron, who also created The Badger and had a great run on The Punisher, teamed up with artist Pat Broderick, who among many other projects had a great tenure on Captain Atom, for Bronze Star, a western-horror original graphic novel.
Both creators are still at the top of the game. Baron’s script is direct, sometimes even sparse – there’s not a ton of talking in good Westerns – but it gets the reader into the atmosphere almost immediately. Broderick’s art is well-matched with the script, punctuating quiet moments with sudden action and terror.
Bronze Star is a fun read and one that makes me hope Baron and Broderick can find another reason to team up.
