ComicConnect is continuing to offer first looks at the upcoming Event Auction 61 that opens on February 24, 2025. They are still adding consignments of original art and vintage comics, including Golden Age greats.

Event Auction 61 is already offering high grade Batman classics such as Catwoman’s first costumed appearance in Batman #3 and the Penguin’s debut in Detective Comics #58. Now the auction is adding Batman’s first encounters with supervillains, like the introduction of Doctor Death in Detective Comics #29. That’s followed by the threat of the Monk lurking behind Bob Kane’s haunting cover for Detective Comics #31. A parade of Golden Age Superman books include one of the earliest appearances of Lex Luthor in Superman #4 8.5.

High grade copies of Human Torch #5 and Captain America Comics #29 join the Alex Schomburg covers of the WWII era, alongside the Shield and the Hangman waging war on Irv Novick’s cover for Pep Comics #20. There are other notable firsts like More Fun Comics #73 introducing Aquaman and the Green Arrow. The auction has also added the pioneering All-Negro Comics from 1947 and Wally Wood’s cover for Shock SuspenStories #6, which marks the controversial comic’s turn to social relevance.
