ComicConnect Mega Monthly & Event Auctions End Dec. 13-18
ComicConnect is combining two big finishes for the holidays, with the Fall Mega Monthly Auction and Event Auction 60 (covering both vintage comics and original art) closing over a six-day span on December 13-18, 2024.
The Mega Monthly Auction features the Mike Ploog Collection, offering a selection of classic Ploog from the CGC Signature Series, plus rare foreign books showcasing his work as co-creator of Ghost Rider, Werewolf By Night, and more. Bronze Age titles include Morbius’ debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101, the origin of Spider-Man’s black suit in Secret Wars #8, and the Punisher’s start in a French-Canadian edition of Amazing Spider-Man #129.
Event Auction 60 includes Action Comics #1 9.0 restored as one of the three highest graded copies known. There are more key firsts like Batman #1, Captain Marvel’s debut in Whiz Comics, a rare Detective Comics #1, and the Green Lantern’s first appearance in All-American Comics #16. Silver Age Marvel keys include Fantastic Four #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15. The Tom Cook Collection adds more vital keys and top titles from the Emmy-winning director and animator.
EA60’s original art features the first page to come up for auction from Tradd Moore’s Silver Surfer: Black #1, in addition to Bill Sienkiewicz’s hardboiled cover for Moon Knight #33. Wolverine claws his way in via a first meeting with Deadpool in Adam Kubert’s double-page spread for Wolverine #88. Barry Windsor-Smith provides a defining moment from the mutant’s origin in Marvel Comics Presents #75, plus pieces by Frank Miller, Jim Aparo, John Buscema, and more.
