Monster-Mania Con returned to the Delta Hotel Marriott in Hunt Valley, Maryland on September 30 through October 2, 2022. The cold, rainy weather did not deter fans from showing up in droves to meet celebrity guests and shop from horror-themed vendors and artists.
The convention hosted a Halloween franchise reunion with James Jude Courtney, Anthony Michael Hall, Charles Cyphers, Nancy Kyes, Airon Armstrong, and Tom Jones Jr.
The celebrity guests also included Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Oded Fehr (The Mummy), Skeet Ulrich and Roger Jackson (Scream), Clint Howard (Ice Cream Man), Doug Bradley and Andrew Robinson (Hellraiser), Alice Krige and Mark Burnham (Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)), Chris Sarandon and William Ragsdale (Fright Night), Tom Morga and Warrington Gillette (Friday the 13th franchise), Jeff Daniel Phillips and Daniel Roebuck (The Munsters), Richard Brake (3 From Hell), Quinn Lord (Trick r’ Treat), and Gaylen Ross (Dawn of the Dead).
Some of the guests participated in Q&As, including Morga, Jackson, Burnham, and McDowell, and there was a cast panel with the Halloween guests. The original Halloween and the 2018 reboot, as well as Fright Night were shown on the big screen. There was also a VIP party on Friday night and costume contest on Saturday evening.
Monster-Mania welcomed a mix of vendors, including an artist alley style hallway with posters, art prints, jewelry, shadow boxes, etched shot glasses, and handmade stuffed animals. A few vendors sold comics, magazines, and vintage paperbacks and several sold t-shirts and action figures. There were VHS tapes, DVDs, and Blu-rays, Funko Pops, Legos, and plenty more. A few authors were also at the convention selling horror, mystery, and sci-fi books.
Monster-Mania recently announced that they were expanding their slate of shows to include a spring edition of the Hunt Valley convention.
The next Monster-Mania event is on November 11-13 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. The guest list includes A Nightmare on Elm Street reunion with Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp, David Morrissey (The Walking Dead), Robyn Lively (Teen Witch), and a Rob Zombie’s Halloween reunion with Tyler Mane and Danielle Harris.
