The zombie apocalypse is back for another round in DIE!Namite Never Dies. The previous series was primarily set in populated areas with lots and lots of zombified people. This one kicks off in the jungles of Kenya/Tanzania where Tarzan and Jane have had their morning interrupted by a rather large and unfriendly zombie beast. The Lord of the Jungle’s activities also attract the attention of Evil Sonja with Smiley-Sword, Pantha, and Vampirella who are continuing their mission to find the remaining zombies and other unsavory characters.
DIE!Namite Never Dies is already off to great start. Fred Van Lente wrote some sharp dialogue for Tarzan and Jane, peppering the story with comical moments. The panels of Tarzan in action are balanced by the groundwork for where this series is heading.
The team of artist Vincenzo Carratú and colorist Kike J. Diaz made the visuals pop by showing Tarzan’s prowess (with the bloody gore of a DIE!Namite book), a nice antiheroes pose with Sonja, Vampirella, and Pantha, and the beauty of the jungle thrown in for good measure.
