Disney has produced some of the greatest villains in movie history and now the bad guys are finally getting the spotlight in the park. During D23, it was announced that the long rumored Villains Land is heading to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
The news came in a presentation that began with singer-actress Rita Ora (Descendants: The Rise of Red) singing “Trust in Me” from The Jungle Book. Then Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro provided details on the park expansion.
“This land will be home to the villains that you know and those that you loathe, which means happily ever after might feel like a distant dream,” D’Amaro said.
D’Amaro revealed that it will contain two major attractions, dining options, shopping opportunities, and more. He did not state which characters will be showcased in Villains Land, however the concept art features Maleficent in dragon form while a roller coaster is seen traveling around the spooky cliffs.
“You might have just felt a shiver run down your spine. That’s because preparation is already underway at Magic Kingdom for this land,” the official Disney Parks blog wrote after the D23 presentation. “Maybe think twice before you indulge in that next shiny red apple.”
This is the first time that a Disney land will be themed completely on the studio’s villains.
