Sardonic humor, mistaken identity, and adventure fill the pages of Doctor Who: Missy. The first issue saw Missy entering Stormcage by claiming to be the Doctor with the goal of liberating one of her earlier incarnations as the Master. Then she wants him to help her find a fragment of the key to time.

Issue two sees Missy and the Master attempting to find their way out of the large facility and past the guards. Given how challenging this task is, they meet a few obstacles before coming face to face with none other than River Song.

The creative team is nailing this comic. The premise is intriguing, and Jody Houser is killing it with the dialogue. Watching Missy attempt to impersonate the Doctor is both funny and insightful. She must act against her own nature while trying to break out of a prison and does so by pointing out the absurd ways that the Doctor operates. The conversations between her and the Master give telling glimpses into each version of the character and the panels with River give both saucy women time to shine.

I can’t wait for the next issue.
