Dwellings Spooky Halloween Special in October
Emmy winning and Eisner nominated writer Jay Stephens (EC’s Epitaphs from the Abyss) is embracing the scary and sweet action of Halloween in the Dwellings: All Hallow’s Eve special. Published by Oni Press, this is the first standalone, double-sized Dwellings special. It arrives in October 2024.
“This Halloween, return to the terrifyingly tranquil streets that Dwellings calls home – as seen through the eyes of visitor Wolfgang LeGant! But Wolfgang is no ordinary tourist: He’s convinced he’s actually a seasoned vampire hunter, and this delusion has drawn him to Elwich to drive a stake through the once unassuming town’s thriving ‘Saguinarian’ goth subculture,” per the description. “But when Wolfgang meets Emmaline Momenta, a young woman similarly possessed by the idea that she’s a real vampire, irrational faith may be the only thing capable of stopping a mass murder in the making…”
“In each standalone Dwellings tale, I strive to summon the vibe of different styles of horror cinema that I grew up with,” Stephens said. “This story ‘Come Hither’ has the taste of old Hammer Films’ gothic sleaze with a whiff of Roger Corman’s off-brand literary cinema classics. It’s a flipped take of Dracula that also serves as a call back to the previous Dwellings comics… some familiar faces return… some for the last time.”
Dwellings: All Hallow’s Eve comes with standard and skeletonized covers by Stephens, plus a variant by Katie Skelly (Twisted Romance). The 40-page special will arrive in comic shops on October 30.
