The Federal Emergency Missions Force, better known as FemForce, is a comic book series published by AC Comics. The all-female hero team featured a mixture of characters who were created in the 1940s and ‘50s with new characters. The book was introduced 40 years ago with FemForce #1 (January 1985) and is still in print with issue 204 published in October 2024.

The original team of Miss Victory (who is super strong, invulnerable, and can fly), the first Rio Rita (a former Spanish spy), She Cat (based on Harvey Comics’ Black Cat), and the Blue Bulleteer (based on Fox Feature Syndicate’s Phantom Lady). They served during World War II and then became agents working for the US government.

Years later in 1960, Blue Bulleteer was nearly killed during battle and was saved by Azagoth. She recovered on Azagoth’s home dimension and returned to Earth as the sorceress Nightveil, along with new teammate Synn, who could alter reality.

Ms. Victory went through a significant change after the villain Black Commando forced her to consume too much V-45. The serum gave her new powers and she became the loose cannon, Rad, then her daughter, Jennifer, became the second Ms. Victory. Rad returned and became the team’s leader once again, and Jennifer became the second Rad.

In the ‘80s, they added new team members like the environmentalist Tara and weapons specialist Colt. They met the original Rio Rita’s granddaughter, but the younger woman did not want to join the team. Since then, the team grew to include the electric-powered Rayda, the alien warrior Stardust, the ghost Firebeam, the telekinetic Dragonfly, and Thunderfox, who was a comic character brought to life by Nightveil.
