Filip Sablik to Give Ringo Awards Keynote Address

Comics executive Filip Sablik will give the keynote address at the 2024 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards. Also known as the Ringo Awards, the celebration of the creativity, skill, and fun of comics, will be presented during a banquet and ceremony at the Baltimore Comic-Con on Saturday, September 21.

Sablik has 25 years of experience in the comics industry in distribution, editorial, marketing, sales, business development, and operations, plus as a comic writer and artist. He worked with Diamond Comic Distributors, Top Cow, and most recently he spent 12 years as BOOM! Studios’ President of Publishing and Marketing. He was an important figure in building BOOM! comic franchises like BRZRKR, Something is Killing the Children, and Lumberjanes, developing and overseeing their direct to consumer program, and developing and running their retail partner support programs.

“To say that I am honored to have been asked by Baltimore Comic-Con and Marc Nathan to deliver the keynote address for this year’s The Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards is truly an understatement,” Sablik said. “Mike was the first comic book professional I had the pleasure of meeting in person and not only made the possibility of a career in comics real for me, but set a gold standard for every creator interaction I’ve had since. Attending the Ringo Awards is always one of the highlights of my year and I look forward to contributing to that legacy in September!”
