First Brainiac, McQuarrie Art in Heritage Auctions

Brainiac’s debut, Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars art, and the NES Power Glove are among the highlights in Heritage’s weekly auctions. The Comic Books Select Auction ends on Sunday through Tuesday, October 22-24, 2023, the Video Games Mini-Boss Auction closes on Tuesday, October 24, and the Comic Art & Animation Auction finishes on Wednesday, October 25.
The comic auction features Action Comics #242 CGC 4.5 with the first appearance of Brainiac, the debut of the shrunken city of Candor, and art by Curt Swan. Tim Burton’s mischievous Beetlejuice makes his comics debut in Beetlejuice #1 CGC 9.6 newsstand edition.
Carmine Infantino’s Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile toy box cover art for the Kenner action figures and accessories line leads the original art auction. Ralph McQuarrie’s Star Wars preliminary sketch original art showcases the aliens Horn-Head, Figrin D’an, and a Modal Nodes musician.
The very cool looking though not very functional Power Glove (uncertified seal, large size) from Mattel for NES grabs a top spot in the video games auction. Heritage is also offering a copy of GamePro #1 CGC 6.5, the popular gaming magazine that ran from 1989 to 2011.
