A priest responsible for a child’s death is sent to learn from an unorthodox priest who performs exorcisms in When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee. BOOM! Studios is giving a first look at the new title by writer Gus Moreno and artist Jakub Rebelka.

Disgraced priest Father Barrera is haunted by the part he played in the death of a child. His penance is exile to the remote town of Puerto Cristina where he will be the apprentice of the church’s preeminent and controversial exorcist, Father Stygian.

“Exorcists are normally trained in the Vatican, but Stygian has his own way of handling demons…methods that predate even the Church. And unfortunately for Barrera, Stygian’s last apprentice committed suicide not too long ago,” per the description.

“As Barrera seeks to unlock the mysteries of Stygian’s strange practices, he finds himself amidst an island rife with the forces of evil… What do these constant streams of possessions mean?
