Garfield Movie & Abigail Get Digital & Physical Release Dates

Two funny movies at opposite ends of the genre spectrum are coming to home screens soon. On July 9, 2024, the family-comedy The Garfield Movie became available for rental or to buy digitally, and the horror-comedy Abigail was released on Blu-ray and DVD. Additionally, Abigail will start streaming on Peacock on July 19.
The Garfield Movie begins when the kitten-aged Monday hating feline is separated from his father because the scent of pizza and lasagna tantalized him. His bad luck changes quickly when Garfield is adopted by his human, Jon Arbuckle, and enjoys life as a happy, lazy cat with his dog buddy, Odie. That’s when Garfield and Odie are kidnapped, reunite with Vic (Garfield’s dad), and try to escape a few unsavory characters.
The Garfield Movie features Chris Pratt voicing Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson as Vic, Nicholas Hoult as Jon, and Harvey Guillén as Odie. The voice cast also includes Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Ving Rhames, Cecily Strong, Bowen Yang, and Luke Cinque-White.
VOD purchases of The Garfield Movie will include extras like a gag reel, Easter eggs, a deleted scene, featurettes on Garfield and other characters, and features on drawing the characters, concept art, and the animation progression reel.
Abigail introduces a group of kidnappers who are hired to hold hostage a girl named Abigail (Alisha Weir), who is the daughter of a prominent and infamous New York figure. But the hostage takers are in for a rude awakening when they get locked in the house alongside Abigail. They learn that the sweet looking, ballet dancing girl is actually a vampire and in reality, they were lured to the house for her dining and torturing pleasure.
It stars Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Giancarlo Esposito, Kevin Durand, Will Catlett, and Angus Cloud. The movie is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, and was written by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick.
Abigail’s Blu-ray and DVD releases will include special features, such as extended and deleted scenes, a gag reel, and commentary from Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett.
