Lucas and Harmony are learning about their strange new ability to talk to the dead. While Lucas is fearful that the spirits will hurt his daughter, Harmony encourages them to tell their stories – however terrible and twisted they may be. Elsewhere, readers see a different aspect of the spirits and how they…communicate.
Ghostlore is a supernatural, horror-learning comic, but at the center is a struggling family. From the first issue, writer Cullen Bunn has been delivering a complicated situation between a father who is a pastor and an unhappy teenage daughter. The horror they endured has removed some of the distance between them, but things are still messy, which could be pivotal to how they face what’s coming their way.
Artist Leomacs and colorist Jason Wordie are giving the real world context with settings and surroundings that are defined, but when the spirits are around, things become swirly and unreal. This succinctly grounds the different aspects of the comic between Lucas and Harmony’s lives and that of the spirits.
