Hake’s Auctions will open their first premier event of 2024 soon on February 27. Auction #240 contains 1,928 lots of memorabilia, highlighted by a rare piece of horror movie history, notable political campaign material, Star Wars and Masters of the Universe toys, a collection of Aurora model kits, and more.

One of the auction’s biggest lots is A Nightmare on Elm Street prerelease movie poster original art by Duncan Eagleson, which was used to secure financing for the horror film. One of a kind movie poster art of this magnitude rarely comes up for auction.

The political section is led by the “Harrison and Reform” log cabin and hard cider barrel 1840 campaign American flag that was part of a campaign that began when Harrison’s opponent mocked his advanced age. The Roosevelt, Hughes, and Taft “Security Harmony Justice” 1916 campaign button Hake #3017 features an array of major party candidates.

Hake’s is selling another exceptional assortment of Star Wars action figures and other toys. Highlights include the Early Bird Mail-Away Kit AFA 85+ with Luke Skywalker (double-telescoping), Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and R2-D2. Another intriguing piece is the Revenge of the Jedi mock-up concept proof card AFA NG with the alternate logo design.

The Masters of the Universe Eternia Series 5 playset AFA 80, which is one of the most sought after toys in the line and is the highest graded example, is among the top toy listings. This auction will see the debut of the Janusey Brothers Collection of Aurora model kits, one of the finest collections assembled, featuring the very rare Godzilla Go Cart unused boxed model kit.

With spring in the air, it’s time for exciting baseball collectibles. Hake’s is offering a 1910 Baltimore News Orioles (Eastern League) Jack Dunn CGC 1 card, the only example known to the auction house. The 1916 Sporting News M101-5 Forrest Cady blank back no number CGC 3.5 (short print), a true rarity from the prewar baseball card era.

The Dark Knight is well represented with one of the highest graded copies of Batman #181 CGC 9.4 (first appearance of Poison Ivy) and the Batman #315 original cover by Dick Giordano with sky high action of the Caped Crusader fighting Kite-Man. Another key piece of original art is the large framed Vampirella specialty original art painting by Sanjulian.

Auction highlights cover a wide variety of material, including Dave Grohl’s hand-written concert set list for Nirvana’s 1992 Buenos Aires concert. Non-sport trading cards include the 1959 Fleer Three Stooges master set of 99 cards (with the wrapper) all CGC graded, and Magic: The Gathering Legends edition sealed booster box from the third expansion set that was released in 1994.

Auction #240 will go online on February 27, and runs for three weeks, closing on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 19-20.
