
Hake’s to Sell Original Art Based on Children’s Television Shows
Children’s animated TV shows are wonderful places that dazzle kids with imagination and humor. And since they cater to young viewers, characters from kids’ shows often make the leap into toys and other products. In premier Auction #243, Hake’s is giving fans of beloved children’s classics the opportunity to expand their collections with original art made for those products.
Everyone’s favorite hungry bear is in the auction with the Yogi Bear “Pie-Pirates” animation cel setup. The framed early art depicts full figure profile images of Yogi and Boo-Boo looking at a pot set over a campfire.
There’s a cartoon crossover with the Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound giant playbook cover art pair. The 16” x 38” matted pair of paintings show Yogi on the front cover and Huckleberry on the back cover for Whitman No. 1998:100.
The modern Stone Age family are represented by The Flintstones Sticker Fun complete book art including the wraparound cover. The lot includes eight interior black and white pages, full color mixed media original art for a pair of two-page spreads, and mixed media original art for the wraparound cover.
The Pebbles Flintstone Golden book cover and endpapers original art pair was used for both the Little Golden Books and Big Golden Books editions. On the cover, Pebbles is riding Dino as Baby Puss hands her a bottle, and the endpapers art shows Pebbles on a swing that is hung around Dino’s neck.
Heading to the future, Hake’s has Hanna-Barbera’s The Jetsons jigsaw puzzle original art. It depicts George and Jane Jetson riding the Vacu Cycle to Jet-In, a futuristic outer space version of a drive-in theater.
The Jetsons – First Family on the Moon album cover art by Don Sheppard and Harvard Pennington is framed art of the family on the moon. Judy and Jane react to a waving alien while George, Astor, and Elroy are alarmed by another alien as it crawls toward them.
The Fireball XL5 Little Golden Book complete original art by Hawley Pratt and Al White is based on the 1960s British children’s sci-fi show. The art lot showcases characters like Colonel Steve Zodiac and Doctor Venus riding jetmobiles outside of their ship.
