Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys #6

Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys wrapped this week with issue 6. After conquering the human-eating goats and robot versions of Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Power Girl, the gang found their leader and are ready to take Harley Sinn down. But of course, Sinn has a gang of her own that looks like they stepped out of a Mad Max movie. On top of that, the doctor in Harley is considering how Sinn’s past has shaped her and wondering if, perhaps, she can be saved.
This final issue, written by Frank Tieri and Jimmy Palmiotti of the Gang of Harleys miniseries was really good. Honestly, around #3-4, I was starting to lose interest because it seemed like the narrative had lost focus and momentum. But, #5 was interesting, particularly with Sinn’s detailed backstory, and this was a good follow-up and end. It had some of Harley’s comedy and absurdity plus it added a new layer to one fringe character. It also included two of the most fun elements of a Harley title: she was Dr. Quinzel and she kicked some serious butt.
Artistically, the whole miniseries has been good. It’s bright and colorful, the art is clean and easy to follow, the backgrounds have just enough detail to spark the imagination without distracting, and the characters are expressive. Mauricet and Hi-Fi did a great job.
With the way things ended, this story, or similar ones, could be in our future. I’m sure the gang will be up for it.
