Star Wars comics were home to some very interesting characters not seen, or rarely seen, on film. One such group was the House of Tagge, who were introduced as a predominate new villain for the series. They appeared primarily in comics, but have also been in series novels.

The House of Tagge is a wealthy family of humans, living on Tepasi, that dates back to founders of the Galactic Republic. Aristocratic to the core, the head of the family goes by the title of baron or baroness. They run the Tagge Company, a conglomerate with ties around the galaxy and employ a private military with thousands of starships and a million soldiers.

In their powerful position, the House of Tagge supported the Galactic Republic during the Separatist Crisis and Clone Wars. When fighting between the Rebels and Empire hit its most dramatic period, the House of Tagge supported the Imperial Navy and battlecruisers on the Yavin blockade.

Sanya Tagge was the head of the family during the Clone Wars. Her son Orman became the head of the family for the 20-year period leading up to the Battle of Yavin. He became a supporter of Emperor Palpatine and was convinced that he’d be a better second in command than Darth Vader. After learning of his opinion, Vader retaliated by blinding the baron with his lightsaber, reestablishing himself as the baddest of the bad in Star Wars.
