The Fisherman is back and ready to stalk, terrorize, and kill a new group of reckless young adults. Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first trailer for the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer teasing the return of the Fisherman and two of the franchise’s original stars.

The new movie begins when five friends unintentionally cause a deadly car accident, then make a pact to hide what they did rather than pay for the crime. One year later, they are targeted by a killer who knows what they did and wants revenge.

The trailer begins with a woman soaking in the bathtub and doing a guided meditation, while her boyfriend gets harpooned by the Fisherman in another room. Then a group of friends in Southport (home of the original killer) discuss what they did last summer and who might know about it.

A town meeting is called to discuss the situation where original film survivor Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.) confronts town officials about the danger they are in. Several shots of the Fisherman stalking his prey follows until one of his targets reaches out to franchise final girl Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) to ask for help. Looking troubled, Julie responds, “I just have one question – what did you do last summer?”

I Know What You Did Last Summer stars Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Tyriq Withers, Billy Campbell, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Jonah Hauer-King, Sarah Pidgeon, and Lola Tung. It is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge).

The movie is set for theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
