In Memoriam: David Harris

Actor David Harris, best known for starring in The Warriors, died on Friday, October 25, 2024, from cancer. He was 75 years old.

He starred in the 1979 cult classic as Cochise, one of the Warriors gang members who are framed for murdering a respected gang leader. As rival gangs attempt to kill them, the Warriors must try to survive the journey from the north end of the Bronx to their home turf of Coney Island.

Harris was born on June 18, 1949 in New York City, attended the High School of Performing Arts, and then the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. His onscreen debut was in the 1976 TV movie Judge Horton and the Scottsboro Boys.

He was in an episode of Kojak, Death Penalty TV movie, Brubaker, Purple Hearts, and the North & South miniseries. Harris did guest spots on MacGyver, Hill Street Blues, In the Heat of the Night, Simon & Simon, The Equalizer, and Cop Rock, and he was in the movies Dead End City and Black Scorpion II: Aftershock.

Harris’ credits also included an episode of ER, Dish Dogs, a recurring role in NYPD Blue as Officer Simmons, episodes of Law & Order and Elementary, Mommy’s Box, and his final role was a 2019 episode of First Wives Club.
