Courage the Cowardly Dog writer David Steven Cohen has died. He was 58 years old.

Cohen was a staff writer then head writer on Courage the Cowardly Dog, penning 52 episodes from 1999 to 2002. The animated show followed a small pink dog who tries to save his owners from the strange and scary things that often pop up around them.

His first TV writing credit was for an episode of George Burns Comedy Week in 1985. He wrote episodes of ALF, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Living Single, Arthur, Space Racers, and Treasure Trekkers. He also wrote the TV movies The Wickedest Witch and A Cool Like That Christmas, and the animated film, Balto.

Cohen was also a producer on Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, A Cool Like That Christmas, Living Single, Kirk, The Wubbulous World of Dr. Suess, and Strangers with Candy.
