Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She was 39 years old.

Unconfirmed sources have stated that Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant. Her death is not currently being investigated as suspicious.

Trachtenberg starred in three seasons of Buffy as the Vampire Slayer’s younger sister, Dawn. Then she had the recurring role of the manipulative Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, appearing throughout the six-season run.

She was born on October 11, 1985, in New York City. Her earliest roles were episodes of Clarissa Explains It All and The Adventures of Pete and Pete, then her breakout role was playing the titular character in Harriet the Spy.

Trachtenberg played Penny in the Inspector Gadget movie, she was in EuroTrip, did a few episodes of Six Feet Under, and she starred in Ice Princess. She was in the 2006 Black Christmas remake, 17 Again, Cop Out, Take Me Home Tonight, and she appeared in Weeds and Sleepy Hollow. Her final roles were in The Christmas Gift, she voice acted in Human Kind Of, and her final role was reprising Georgina Sparks in the 2022 Gossip Girl revival.
