Actor Peter “Navy” Tuiasosopo, known for Street Fighter and New Girl, died on Monday, February 10, 2025, due to heart complications. His son, Manoah Peter Tuiasosopo, confirmed his passing. He was 61 years old.
Tuiasosopo played E. Honda in the Street Fighter movie based on the popular video game. He had a recurring role on New Girl, portraying the characters Big Bob and Steve.
His Street Fighter costar, Ming-Na Wen, commented on his passing on Instagram, “Very sad to find out about the passing of a great man and co-star today. Peter Navy Tuiasosopo was my ‘Honda.’ Such a sweetheart of a man. A total teddy bear. I loved working with him on #Streetfighter. He was always fun, kind and super easygoing. Gone too soon at 61.”
Tuiasosopo was born in San Pedro, California on May 24, 1963. He played professional football for a short period in the late 1980s before turning to acting. His first role was playing offensive lineman Manumana in the football comedy Necessary Roughness.
He was in On Deadly Ground, did an episode of The Jamie Foxx Show, was the observatory guard in Batman & Robin, he was in BASEketball, and he played a security guard in The Fast and the Furious.
Tuiasosopo was in The Scorpion King, Austin Powers in Goldmember, he had a recurring role on Hawaii as Kaleo, he starred in 12 Rounds, and did a few episodes of Easy Money. He was in a episodes of The Young and the Restless, did guest spots in NCIS, Ray Donovan, Black-ish, Mayans M.C., and his final role was in Magnum P.I.
