Dark Horse; $3.50

Your Avon lady is calling, but maybe not for the right reason…

Dark Horse’s Lady Killer is an interesting look at an assassin’s double-life: one as a homemaker, the other as a contract killer. The story by Joelle Jones and Jamie S. Rich isn’t entirely new; the idea of the stay-at-home mother not being who she appears to be has been done, but Jones and Rich have stuck to the core of the idea to highlight its best parts.

The first of five issues introduces readers to Josie, the titular killer, who takes on contracts to execute targets while also having to go home to her husband, two children, and an angry German mother-in-law. But unlike other stories of this nature, Josie genuinely appears to care for her family, instead of simply using them as a cover for her real nature. We look forward to seeing what happens at the end of this miniseries.
