Mine is a Long Lonesome Grave introduces Harley Creed, a man fresh out of jail who wants to take care of some unfinished business in his hometown of Briar Falls, West Virginia, and then leave it behind. But, once he returns home, Harley learns that someone doesn’t think his 20 years in prison were enough to pay for his crimes. A hex is put on him, and now Harley has seven days until he suffers a horrible death – unless he can find and kill the person who initiated the hex.

The first issue of this revenge comic by Justin Jordan quickly sets up the tone and mood of the book. Despite appearing haggard and defeated, Harley is clearly still a dangerous man, and Briar Falls is not a welcoming place for the ex-con. The rural magic of the area is also ever-present which artist Chris Shehan presents in some subtle and some freaky ways.
