Karl Urban is ready for action as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 2. The movie based on the bloody fighting video game has released a promotional poster with the first look at The Boys star as Johnny Cage.

The artwork is a fake movie poster advertising Johnny Cage’s next movie, Uncaged Fury. Urban appears confident, arms crossed over a leather jacket with a cocky smirk on his face and Johnny’s signature sunglasses covering his eyes. Behind him, motorcycles fly out of explosions, and the top of the poster promises that the movie is from the same studio behind Rebel Without a Cage. The bottom of the poster features the actual credits for Mortal Kombat 2.

The first Mortal Kombat came out in 2021, introducing new character Cole Young who joined the heroes of Earth to defend it from the fighters of Outworld. Johnny Cage’s introduction was teased at the very end of the movie when the bottom half of a poster from one of his movies is shown.

Urban is older than most iterations of the character in the video games and the 1990s movies. However, a middle aged version of the character appeared in the game when they introduced his daughter, Cassie Cage.

Mortal Kombat 2 will bring back several stars including Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Josh Lawson as Kano, and Joe Taslim as Bi-Han.

New cast members include Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, Damon Herriman as Quan Chi, and C.J. Bloomfield as Baraka.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is helming the sequel, which was written by Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight).

Mortal Kombat 2 will arrive in theaters on October 24, 2025.
