New Horrors Revealed in 28 Years Later Trailer
The world has changed dramatically during the zombie apocalypse. Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for 28 Years Later showing the new world and the threats from zombies and humans alike, while an unsettling rendition of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Boots” is recited.
“It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well,” per the official synopsis.
28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland are back in their respective roles for the third film in the franchise. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes are starring in the movie.
It’s been reported that Cillian Murphy is returning in his role as Jim, however he is not listed among the cast. There is one unsettling moment in the trailer featuring an emaciated zombie that bears a striking resemblance to Murphy (though it has not been confirmed).
28 Years Later is the first movie in a new trilogy with Boyle and Garland behind the project. The second movie, 28 Years Later II: The Bone Temple, was shot back to back with the new movie and is directed by Nia DaCosta.
It will premiere in theaters on June 20, 2025.
