Propstore is turning the volume up to 11. They are selling over 200 music memorabilia lots, including guitars, handwritten lyrics, clothing, autographs, and more. The music lots will be sold on Friday, November 10, 2023, as a part of a larger auction that includes film and TV material.
Items poised to hit a high note include Michael Jackson’s 1984 custom made photo-matched leather jacket from the Pepsi New Generation commercial, and Amy Winehouse’s trademark beehive hairpiece from the “You Know I’m No Good” music video. Others are George Michael’s screen-matched La Rocka jacket from the “I Knew You Were Waiting (for Me)” video for his duet with Aretha Franklin, and a John Lennon owned, photo-matched belt buckle from his “Lost Weekend” period.
Multiple guitars will be offered, highlighted by Angus Young’s (AC/DC) Gibson SG Junior guitar, Paul Stanley’s (KISS) signed stage used custom silver glitter Washburn Starfire guitar, and Noel Gallagher (Oasis) first prototype Epiphone Supernova guitar. More of the guitars are Johnny Marr’s 1988 Fender Stratocaster guitar, John Squire’s (The Stone Roses) Blonde Fender Telecaster custom guitar, and Jack Black and Dave Grohl signed Takamine Jasmine S38S guitar with additional recording industry figures’ autographs.
Propstore is offering handwritten and signed material, like Kurt Cobain’s (Nirvana) framed handwritten set list, the Oasis complete set of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? album song lyrics handwritten by Noel Gallagher, and Matthew Montgomery, aka Piggy D’s (Rob Zombie band) autographed stage vest.
Music highlights include David Bowie’s original “Liza Jane” single test pressing where he performed under the name “Tom Jones,” Colonel Tom Parker’s live recording of Elvis Presley’s concert and original reel to reel tape recorder from December 2, 1976, The Beatles signed UK Autumn Tour 1963 concert program, and George Michael Careless Whisper platinum disc.
The auction also includes a David Bowie original “Liza Jane” single disc, Giorgio Moroder’s Flashdance Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, Annie Lennox’s (Eurythmics) “Lord’s Prayer” suit, and a pair of John Bonham’s (Led Zeppelin) drumsticks wrapped in an autographed handwritten note. Other featured material are John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s signed Grapefruit book, David Bowie signed paintings and sculpture catalog, and a Wham Netflix poster.
“Taking inspiration from last year’s highly successful music sale, we have strived to be bigger and better for 2023 and with incredible, unique content from rock and pop legends – John Lennon, The Beatles, David Bowie, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Oasis, AC/DC, KISS, Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, Queen, Elvis Presley, and Amy Winehouse. For many of these exclusive lots, it is the first time they have been offered for sale to the public and Propstore expect bidding to be highly competitive,” Propstore Director of Music and Posters Mark Hochman said.
Propstore will host preview exhibitions of over 100 lots at their office in Hertfordshire by appointment until November 3. Appointments can be made at propstore.com.
