Things are looking complicated in Rai. First, Rai, Raijin, and Alice have left Romanus to continue hunting for the offspring. Instead they find New Ur, a city that has been created rather quickly from remnants of their old world. Elsewhere, Lula is trying to help Bloodshot return to his body after Bloodfather took it from him.
Dan Abnett has given Rai the single minded focus to find the offspring, but each issue presents a moral dilemma about who he pursues the goal or what he disregards along the way. This gives the book, which has a whole lot of futuristic sci-fi/tech lingo emotional grounding. It presents thoughtful questions for a character who seems devoid of emotion, yet is risking his life to save the world.
