The first issue of Specter Inspectors introduced the ghost hunting team of recent college grads Noa, Astrid, and Ko, and Noa’s 15-year-old sibling Gus. They head to the town of Cape Grace, which is rumored to be filled with supernatural occurrences, in the hopes of finding some ghosts and building an audience for their internet show. Unfortunately, their exploration results in Astrid getting possessed by a demon.

Now trapped in the town, they agree to help the demon if it’ll release their friend. The team heads to the local library in the hopes of finding the demon’s real name and instead find more spirits as they begin to unravel a sinister town secret.

Bowen McCurdy and Kaitlyn Musto are doing a great job with Specter Inspectors. The characters are likeable, the story is engaging, and it complements the scary parts by peppering humor throughout the book. One of the neat aspects is how the demon is interacting with Astrid. Instead of fully taking over the young woman, the demon and Astrid alternate control of her body. That, and the other entities that are popping up, should keep them on their toes as they try to figure out what happened to Cape Grace.
