The IDIC storyline continues to become more intriguing in Part 2 of the arc. Several versions of the Starship Enterprise have appeared in one place, at one time during a Chronotronic Storm. As the crews on the various ships – both friendly and not so friendly – try to determine a course of action, the storm makes another impact.

Crewmembers from the vessels are separated in a confluence of alternate realities, landing in different areas with doppelgängers of their friends and enemies. Some introductions go smoother than others as they try to puzzle through what happened and how to proceed.

Mike Johnson is writing a very entertaining arc in Star Trek Boldly Go. It presents the great “What if?” questions about how differently these characters could behave based on a variety of different life factors. It’s entertaining to see how they react to each other and puzzle through their situations. The issue ended with a nice introduction to yet another doppelgänger that’ll add to the challenge of finding a way home.

Artist Megan Levens and colorists Marissa Louise and Triona Farrell did a great job on this issue. Each variation of the characters is distinct, which makes the book so much easier to follow from scenario to scenario. But, they also retain elements of the others so that when you see the android or gender swapped versions you know which characters they represent. It adds to the already enjoyable story.
