Superman #21

Well, the romanticized honeymoon period after Superman revealed his identity as Clark Kent is over. A video clip has surfaced in which Superman acknowledges that he’ll speak for Earth in intergalactic matters with the United Planets. Of course, some decided to interpret that as Superman claiming himself as king of the Earth. Since Clark isn’t home to deal with that mess it’s falling to Lois who is just thrilled.

In the far reaches of space, Superman is fighting Mongul who attacked the United Planets because he doesn’t want the planets to unite. That conflict has stirred up trouble among the planetary representatives which could fracture their carefully negotiated peace.

The “Truth” arc by Brian Michael Bendis has been really good. The aftermath of Superman’s identity reveal is being explored on multiple levels for Clark the man and husband, and Superman the hero. It’s been handled in an interesting way and will likely continue as Superman tries to explain the video clip that has everyone riled up.
