A new Superman is taking flight and a new Lois Lane is on the story. Superman: Legacy, the movie that will kick off the new phase of DC movies, has cast David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Corenswet is known for starring in Ryan Murphy’s series Hollywood and The Politician, as well as We Own This City and Pearl. He is set to appear in Lady in the Lake and the Twister sequel, Twisters.

Brosnahan is the star of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, for which she has won an Emmy and Golden Globe, along with multiple nominations for the show. Her first big role was in House of Cards, and she is also known for Patriots Day and The Finest Hours.

Superman: Legacy will follow a young Clark Kent as he attempts to balance his superhero and regular life. The movie will be directed by DC Studios co-chairman & CEO James Gunn, and is the first film fully produced under Gunn and DC co-head Peter Safran. It is the first of five planned DC superhero movies, to be followed by The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Authority, and Swamp Thing.

Casting Clark and Lois represents a huge step forward for Superman: Legacy, though there are several roles that still need to be filled. They likely include Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor, Daily Planet Editor-in-Chief Perry White, photographer Jimmy Olsen, and Ma and Pa Kent.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled for theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
